Love In The Big City Full Movie Story
Love in the Big City presents Kim Go-eun and Noh Sang-hyun, a duo that I never thought I needed. They have the best chemistry in telling stories of friendship and love that made me happy after leaving the studio. This coming of age film focuses on two friends, one of whom is Jae-hee (Kim Go-eun) who never hesitates to express her feelings and thoughts, and doesn't care about other people's prejudices and judgments towards her. Meanwhile, Heung-soo (Noh Sang-hyun) is the complete opposite of his best friend because he cares so much about other people's views. So, he closed himself off and even built a wall against other people.
Kim Go-eun perfectly plays Jae-hee who is so brave, not afraid to fight people who judge her without understanding her true nature. He also once appeared as a girl crush through Love in the Big City. Likewise, Noh Sang-hyun gave an equally impressive performance as Kim Go-eun. He is skilled at depicting the complexity of a person's inner struggle for himself in facing the social norms of society.
These differences in character, including the way they face life, can actually make them complement each other and take care of each other. Entertaining and heartwarming friendships form from there. Not only friendship and love, Love in the Big City also touches on several sensitive issues that can easily be connected to many levels of society.
One of them is equality of men and women, toxic masculinity, as well as discrimination against minorities or people with different life choices from the majority society.
Violence in relationships is also highlighted even though it is short-lived and not followed up in depth. Whether intentional or not, the handling of this issue often ends up being unclear for many reasons. Part of what should be appreciated is the courage to openly criticize the situation of women who emphasize that they must always be able to take care of themselves and adapt to all situations, rather than educating men so they can creating a safe environment for all.
Not only that, this film is also one of the few Korean films studded with top stars that is not ambiguous or gray in its depiction of queer characters.
