The film is set 28 years after the virus first destroyed the world. A small community manages to survive on a remote island, where they hide from the zombies that keep roaming around.Life on the island is not easy. Each individual has a certain role to maintain their survival. However, the atmosphere continues to be haunted by the fear of an unexpected attack.
The story becomes more complicated when a member of the community leaves the island on a mission to the mainland. He discovers that the threat of the virus not only destroys infected humans, but also affects the lives of the survivors. 

One of the big mysteries of the trailer is a zombie figure that closely resembles the character Jim from 28 Days Later. With an emaciated body and a pathetic condition, this zombie is seen following Jodie Comer's character in a field. Although not named as the main actor, Murphy is thought to serve as the film's executive producer. His presence in the trailer is at the center of fan speculation as to whether this is a narrative surprise or simply an Easter egg for longtime viewers. Director Danny Boyle returns to direct the film, with Alex Garland writing the screenplay.
